100th anniversary of The National Library of Latvia

The National Library of Latvia (NLL) is the largest Latvian library and the main memory institution in the country. The core functions of the NLL are the collection of national literature, its perpetual storage and the long-term provision of access to it.

In 2019, the NLL celebrates its centenary.

The hoopoe (Upupa epops) − a gorgeous bird, also found in Latvia, has been chosen as the emissary of the Library's anniversary.
